Unique pieces from the Bregenzerwald

We wear shoes almost all day long. We believe the standards for these companions can't be high enough. Now in our fourth generation, we've been crafting wooden shoes of the highest quality. Thanks to the unique materials used—wood, leather, and fur—each pair is one of a kind: whether boots, clogs, or sandals. The shoes are made in our own factory in Hittisau. From poplar or maple wood, and with a great deal of passion.

Four generations, one vision

  • 1922 Alois Devich, originally from South Tyrol, opens a shoemaking shop in the Bregenzerwald. He soon makes a name for himself in the village with his wooden shoes.
  • 1960 Alois Devich Jr. was diagnosed with flat feet at the age of 12. So he began making footbeds that adapted to the shape of his foot, and soon began making them for his customers. Since then, even before the term even existed, Devich has been producing ergonomic footbeds. A minor revolution at the time—now a trademark of Devich shoes.
  • 1990 Anton Devich is the new managing director of the Devich shoe workshop in Bezau. The business has grown significantly, with several employees helping with shoe manufacturing. With the expansion of industrial production, the company is preparing for competition—and for the future.
  • 2014 Daniel Devich is the fourth generation to take over the family business. He runs the company with the support of his father and sister. Demand, including from abroad, has become so high that the shoemakers have to relocate. In 2016, they moved to Hittisau.
